2011 ATLANTIC FRINGE FESTIVAL APPLICATION FORM

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE APPLICATION.

  1. Deadline for applications is July 7th, 2011.
  2. A $50.00 non-refundable application fee must accompany this application.
  3. The 21st annual Atlantic Fringe Festival will be held September 1st – 11th, 2011.
  4. If your show is accepted to the AFF, a registration fee between $150 and $1000 will be required based on a sliding scale formula that accounts for the size of venue and number of performances.
  5. Only one show per application form.
  6. Applicants will be accepted on a lottery basis. The number of shows accepted in each performance category and the number of Atlantic Canadian, Canadian, and International shows accepted will be determined at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
  7. All international groups must pay 15% performance duty. You can apply for a waiver to Revenue Canada. This is your responsibility.

Atlantic Fringe Festival will provide a venue/stage with basic sound, lighting, seating, venue technician and technical set-up time. We provide box office management services to sell tickets and deal with audiences. You must use our ticket seller. We will place your show into the Fringe festival schedule and the official Fringe program, with blurb/write-up of your choice. We will return to you all box office receipts within 48 hours of the closing of the Fringe Festival. We will provide billeting when possible.

You are responsible for your own publicity, posters, advertising. You are responsible for your own personnel/volunteers in set-up, take down, stage management, etc. You are responsible to provide accurate information when needed by the Festival.

All Fringe shows must have permission to perform from the author or author’s agent and professional associations such as EQUITY, ACTRA, SOCAN, etc. if you belong to them. This is your responsibility. The Fringe will not knowingly allow a company to perform without the rights.

What is the number of shows you request?
The festival is 11 days long, beginning Thursday, September 1st and ending September 11th. In the interests of fairness, all groups will be scheduled into a variety of time slots, i.e., some matinees, some evenings, some late nights. See item 15 before deciding, as you should factor in the size of venue and fee.

Registration Fee Calculation: If your show is accepted, you must pay a registration fee. To calculate what the registration fee will be, Choose the venue you desire. Write in the number of shows you desire. Multiply the number of seats by the number of shows.
If we must vary your request, we will contact you for your approval.

Please be aware that you will be charged a non-refundable damage fee for any additional equipment that has to be supplied by the Fringe, including pianos. A more detailed form asking for precise technical needs will be sent later. List any additional technical needs that you may anticipate:

 

**PLEASE NOTE** Please be aware that if your company is accepted into the Atlantic Fringe Festival, this application will be considered a signed agreement between you and the Festival. Performers/companies may withdraw from the Festival without penalty until July 7th, 2011. After that date, companies who withdraw, forfeit their initial $50.00 application fee.

All performing companies agree to adhere to the laws of Nova Scotia and the policies, procedures and safety restrictions of the Atlantic Fringe Festival. The Festival reserves the right to cancel any or all performances of any performing companies not adhering to these regulations.
